About WADAMS

Wroughton Amateur Dramatic and Musical Society

WADAMS was founded on 1st June 1964 under the Chairmanship of Dr Peter Gladders. The society has always regarded itself as being a part of the life of the Wrougton community,. There has always been a shortage of men in the society but nevertheless the productions presented have not lacked in general appeal or variety. We have produced drama, comedy, farce and musicals. However, general support from the public for drama is not as good as it is for musical and revue type of productions.

There are usually two main productions a year. Typically we have play the spring/summer and a pantomime at the beginning of December. Our first pantomime was staged in 1975 and was originally a biannual affair, though in recent years they have become annual events, and most of our productions since. Since 2003, most pantomimes have been written by our members.

The society members involved are in all aspects of putting on a production, set construction, costumes, front of house, and publicity. It is not all work with us! There are several social activities during the year. We hold a barbeque during the summer and the occasional skittle evening, of course there is the Christmas dinner after the pantomime. These occasions allow for members to meet and catch up in convivial situations.

The strength of WADAMS has always been the enthusiasm and friendliness of its members; and enthusiasm and friendliness which is transmitted to and appreciated by the society's audiences. Everyone is welcome at WADAMS, in whatever capacity they wish to undertake. Further information can be obtained from any committee member or by email from the secretary on, or come along to the Ellendune Hall at Wroughton on a Wednesday evening from 7:30 pm. We rehearse on the main stage.
